Eradicating poverty – a matter of political will

Two decades ago, eradicating poverty on a global scale finally became an official goal for the international community. In 2000, the United Nations adopted the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – to be reached by 2015. The first of those goals was to “eradicate extreme poverty and hunger”.
